I've changed...

Well, not me, but my blog or at least my name has!  There's no explaining why I had to change it, let's just say there were some personal problems that were interfering with the site I had.

I hope you all find me, I've been leaving comments because I didn't want to  leave a link on the other site.  If anyone else has a better idea how to do this, let me know.  I spent all day setting this up and manually adding blogs that I read.  It seems the only thing I lost were people who follow me...so, if you want to, update my link if  you want to follow this blog.

So...on to happier stuff!

You know I've been working on my sewing room getting everything in place.
Well...I've never had a design wall.  Now I do!  I'm so, so happy with it...it makes me giggle!

See:

Yeah, I know it's not the best picture...or the best blocks (just some I've been playing with)!  And I've got to cut and hem the sides.  I don't know why I'm apologizing!  I'm tickled with it...it really helps when you're trying to get a design done.  Anyway...the best thing about it is what it's made of.  A plastic tablecloth!  Cheap, easy to find and (for me) the right size.  I will do the hemming and use something other than push pins to hang it later...but right now...I'm happy with it.

Well, I've been on the computer way too long trying to change everything with my blog, so I'll see you

Debbie

Taking a Break

As much as I enjoy sharing my life with my friends...both online and off...personal problems and life are interrupting my attempts to keep blogging at this time. If you want to contact me, leave me a comment and I'll send you my email address. Or...just leave a comment. I'll be checking in here from time to time. I'll also check all your blogs (you can't get rid of me that easily!)

Stormy weather...

LOVE IT!  Yeah, I'm a freak.  I love a good storm.  Wind, thunder, lightening.  Yes, I love storms.  But I don't like tornadoes.  I don't like hail.  I don't like flooding.  We didn't have a tornado or 'real' flooding.  (My backyard could float a small boat, though!)  But look what we did have:

My front yard.  Bad picture, but...ha ha you get the picture.

                                         DSC01881

                                                                   My backyard!

My son called and his apartment is less than a mile from me and he has no power and neither does my friend Bonnie who lives even closer.  'Bama Girl, who is working at my favorite store (NOT!) aka Wal Mart called to check on me.  They have no power either.  I guess I'm lucky!  'Bama Girl asked if I was okay and I told her I was, in fact I was outside taking pictures.  Guess what she said?  "Mutherrrrrr!" (She knew I'd be blogging about it!)  Well...you gotta do what you gotta do to find something interesting to blog about!

I hope I don't have car or roof damage.  Some of that was at least golf ball size!

(Ya'll know that I know this isn't interesting! But I wanted to post some pictures for David to see, so...this was the best way!)

In the mood...

I don't do much 'crafting', mostly quilting..  But tonight the urge hit me!

Isn't this cute?

                                     DSC01874

It's a fabric origami star.  Not much sewing, just 5 straight stitches to make the peaks of the star!

The sewing/office room is coming along, although I'm not sure how David's going to do in there!  (and I haven't even decorated it yet!)

I'll show you what the star is hanging on and you'll understand...

                                          DSC01875

The armoir/tv cabinet is filled with fabric and the baskets on top hold supplies.

                                     DSC01876

This is my cutting table...I didn't think I could sew in there, but it may be possible.

Anyway, I'm sure David will be fine...I'll show his side of the room another time.  (After I get some stuff on the walls!)

Ain't gonna happen!

What I want:

                              sewingroom

What I got:

                              DSC01855

                                                        View from the door!

                               DSC01859

Some of the fabric is organized...HA!

                                              DSC01864

Sorry, no flash...so you can appreciate the artwork!

                                                                Ninja Turtles!

            I don't know why that's still there...I mean, really!  He's 23, not 3!

I've finally done it!  Lost my mind?  Noooo...well, maybe!  No, I'm cleaning out William's room.  The room he lived in since he was 5 years old...my baby's room...wahhhh!  I finally moved out the bed; the thrift store will be picking it up today...wahhhh!

                                              image

It's probably a good thing he never looks at my blog!

So...I moved my cutting table out of the dining room.  David and I are going to share the extra bedroom...office and sewing 'storage'.  (I'm saying storage because I still have to sew on the dining room table...the cutting table vibrates from the machine.)

About sharing:  "Happiness is like a kiss...you must share it to enjoy it."

Oh my goodness!  I opened a drawer to get the picture out and look what I found!

                       More fabric...that's frightening!

I'd better look around...never know what I'll find!

Timeworn Tuesday!

Yeah,yeah...I couldn't wait until Thrifty Thursday!  So I made my own day!

On a whim I stopped by the Downtown Mission Thrift Store today.  I sometimes find things there, but not usually.  The only real find I've gotten was a quilt.  But today, when I wasn't looking,  I found something I've been wanting for a long time!

                                   DSC01852

It's a Singer just like my grandmother had.  She gave it to me when I was a teenager, but it was sold it in a garage sale.  I've looked for one like it for a long time.  Right now, it doesn't work.  The treadle still turns...unlike many I've found...but it doesn't have a belt.  It's been fitted with a Singer motor and light, but there's not a cord to plug in.  Hopefully, I'll find one.  Of course, the light cord is corroded and I'm sure the wiring would have to be replaced.   I'm really not sure it's worth all the trouble to fix it, 'cause I probably wouldn't use it...I'm sure I wouldn't!

The cabinet is in really good shape and all original except for the knobs.  But, I remember that my grandmother's had wooden knobs and some of those had split into, so I'm not surprised!

Oh!  I got a really good deal on it, too!  It was marked $100, but they took $80 for it.  I think that's a good deal...I'm gonna have to research it!

I just wanted to share!

Later,

Debbie

Update:  After a bit of researching, I found out that my machine was issued in 1925...wow, at least something is older than me!

Mini Vacation...whoohoo!

I'll be gone a few days.  I'm leaving tomorrow afternoon to fly to  Charlotte, NC to meet David.  I'll be gone Thursday thru Sunday.

If anyone knows good restaurants or things to do in Charlotte, let me know.  We'll be staying uptown.  Right now, the only think I know that's going on there is Taste of Charlotte.  (Sorry, weight watchers!)

And since I can't seem to blog without pictures...don't act like you haven't said that before!  I'm going to show you a few of my new furniture!  I gave William my old stuff when he moved into his apartment.  Darn!  That meant I had to have new!

                                     DSC01807

I've always wanted a red couch!

And since everybody is pretty much gone most of the time, I got a love seat.

                                      DSC01808

Bought David a recliner...every man needs one!

                                      DSC01810

                                                Same stuff, different view!

Sorry the pictures are so dark on here, but if you're really interested you know the drill...click on 'em!
