Strawberry Fields Forever...

This morning Bonnie and I went to breakfast and on the way home decided to stop by the farmer's market.

Look what we bought!

Look what we did!

Yeah for strawberries! And friends who like to do things on the spur of the moment.

And....I want to tell everyone thanks for commenting on my blog, sometimes I don't have enough time to tell you individually, so...Thank you!

The last few days...

I've been really busy. I've been sewing cushions for my glider and swing as well as the canopy for the swing. Here are some of the pictures:

I'm not quite through, I've still got a rocker to make cushions for, and then...I'll be done!

Auburn Guy and I went to Tuscaloosa Saturday and picked up some of Alabama Girl's things...she couldn't fit it all into her car. While there, we went to Mellow Mushroom...gooood pizza!

Monday night, I've got a University Honors Gala for Auburn Guy.

Tonight, I made a new apron and when Alabama Girl gets home, I'll have a model and can take pictures.

So...I'm very, very tired and I think I'll go to sleep now....'nite!

Good morning kisses and doggy breath!

Just thought I'd share what I wake up to every morning...at least he doesn't snore, well...not much!

He always looks so pleased with himself when he gets me!
And I always shriek when he gets too close with tongue; I think that's why he does it!

I am a dash?

You Are a Dash

Your life is fast paced and varied. You are realistic, down to earth, and very honest.

(True - read last post!)

You're often busy doing something interesting, and what you do changes quickly.

(Oh, yeah...one project after another!)

You have many facets to your personality, and you connect them together well.

(Okay....?)

You have a ton of interests. While some of them are a bit offbeat, they all tie together well.

(Uh huh...quilts,aprons,purses - all=sewing!)

You friends rely on you to bring novelty and excitement to their lives.
(And while you're the most interesting person they know, they can't help feeling like they don't know you well.)

(I do live an exciting life! Have you read my blog lately?)

You excel in: Anything to do with money

(Okay...I agree with 'most everything else...but this?? Yeah...I spend it really well!)

I bet my husband is laughing himself silly!

You get along best with: the Exclamation Point

(Hmmm...who's an exclamation point?)

I just thought this was fun!

So many projects, so little time...

Okay...there are only 24 hours in a day, right? So how come I need more? I'm having to put what I want to do on the back burner for a few days. (I'm through whining now!)

We spent Friday and Saturday doing yard work - mowing, spreading mulch, building a raised garden, and planting flowers. 'I' spent yesterday - taking husband to the airport, running errands, planting veggies, and....mulching! Today I'm giving a perm, running errands, getting new tires...and finding rooms for family who are coming in from Louisiana for the graduation. For some reason (and not for graduation...it's in another town 45 miles away) all the rooms are booked - and we have at least a dozen motels...so, what's up with that?

Alabama Girl working hard! And not happy about it.

Her results!

My results: Tomatoes, peppers, cilantro=Salsa! :)

Gotta get up from here and get busy! (I hate all these spacing problems!)

After this weekend...

I promise, I'll get back to quilting and sewing!

But for now, I just wanted to let you all know I got through the night at UNA in my shoes! It was really nice. Here's a picture of Auburn Guy and his psychology professor after he received his medal (although you can't see it!):

Anyway...everyone is here - my sweet husband got in last night from Wyoming, Alabama Girl and Auburn Guy is here (but he is sick with bronchitis and really doesn't feel like family time!)

Son and daughter leave Sunday and I take husband to the airport Monday morning. So for now instead of doing crafty stuff, I'm doing laundry, cooking, nursing the sick, and giving deserved attention and affection to all!

Have a great week-end!

Fashion Law: If the shoe fits, it's ugly.

Ain't that the truth. Well, here's my dilemma...I bought 2 pair of shoes to wear Thursday when Auburn Guy is being inducted into Phi Kappa Phi (a really big deal for him!).

Here's the thing: One pair is pretty and one pair is comfortable. Which should I go with?
I'm wearing black pant, black jacket and a white camisole.

The pretty pair - but uncomfortable.

The ugly pair - but I'm sure I could stand in them a couple of hours.

I also have to wear these to the graduation and I know I'll be standing for several hours and you really can't see them under my pants. But...I really like the pretty ones. Maybe I should keep both and switch out!

Estate sales, chicken alfredo, and quilts... A good day!

I had been invited to lunch at a friend's house so I got up early and was getting ready for the day when Bonnie called and said "You've got to come up to an estate sale, NOW!" My hair was wet and I wasn't dressed, but she insisted I really needed to come. So...with wet hair and no makeup off I went! Now, I really didn't need to spend money, but there was so much stuff - most of it was from when the people were stationed in Japan during the '40's - a lot of occupied Japan figurines, antiques, fabric and antique hankerchief (Bonnie loaded up on these! She's making a butterfly quilt with the hankies). But...among all these treasures (none of which I needed) this is what I found:

Inside was a 1948 newspaper (the sports pages!).

Ran back home to meet Kim. We went to Lisa's home for lunch. Oh sooo good...chicken alfredo and broccoli...plus ice cream for dessert. Why is it that someone else's food taste so much better! We had a really good time. Lisa and Kim (have I mentioned they're sisters?) are so great, ...they make me feel like 'one of them'! Love ya'll!

On the way home, the sky turned ominous and we heard sirens, raced to my house, turned on the weather channel and there were tornadoes in our area. Don't think any touched down, though.

I also thought (since I never have) that I'd post a few of the quilts that I've done or are in progress...

Log cabin - the yellows are all different, but you can't tell in the pic.

This one is not totally quilted yet (Alabama girl has laid claim on it for her dorm next year).
Notice the camera hog in the pic!

T-shirt quilt I made for Alabama girl for her senior year in high school. It's made from all the band show shirts (about 7 or 8 I designed...I was in charge of art - backdrops, shirts, etc.)

I think you can click on the pictures to get a close-up.

Alabama girl just called and she is playing at the A-day game (The football team plays against each other - a big thing down there - 92,000 people showed up last year!) Anyway, she wants to be in the band next year, so she thought this would be a good time to see if she would be able to march with her tuba (she's never marched with it before, only played in symphonic band). Here's the picture:

The one giggling! Why am I not suprised!

Well, this is really long and Auburn guy has informed me that he is hungry! (wonder what he does when he's not home?)

Well...

I cleaned my house and got everything organized so that I can have time to play but, the phone rang off the hook today...everybody and his brother called!

I did cut out a new pattern for an apron...I'll test it tomorrow (maybe!). Anyway, I was so fed up with the 'store-bought' pattern, that I decided to design my own - I really hope it works out because I really can't find one that has all the features I want! Really!

As much as I complained in my blog yesterday, it wasn't all bad. I got my hair cut - made me feel better - so fluffy and bouncy! - But I scared my hairstylist...I've been to her only 3 times - 1st haircut was wonderful - 2nd one was horrible...and I told her this (I guess I scared her because I used to be a stylist and she knew she messed up!) Anyway, this time was great - I've got a modified Posh Spice cut (really just an inverted V).

I also bought Alabama girl some fabric to make a sundress and I found shoes with the same colors at - (you'll never guess where!) - that big, hateful, wait-in-line for 30 minutes to check-out, that place that I never go into unless I'm desperate and can't find what I'm looking for anywhere else (you know the one I mean).

Check it out:

Cute, huh?

So...I hope I sleep tonight, but I probably won't because the weather radio will go off several times - storms are headed this way (...I really like the radio, because I can never hear the sirens!) Hope everyone else in this area will be okay!

Not Sleepy!

Okay...it's one in the morning and I can't sleep! So...I'm on the computer and watching Deep Space Nine! How sad is that?

My week:

I spent Monday cleaning...yeah...I'm through. The carpets are cleaned, the dusting is done, and the floors are mopped!

Tuesday was terrible. I spent all day holding Chance. He was really, really sick. I had taken him to the vet a while back and she said he has 'shaking white dog syndrome'?? It's a neurological disease that causes small seizures in little white dogs. He has had several episodes this month and Wednesday he couldn't walk or stand. This has happened before and I feel so helpless. But...he slept most of the day and by late afternoon had snapped out of it. Although the doctor said he is not in any pain, it just breaks my heart.

Today I went to eat Mexican with my friends Lisa and Kim. When I came home I worked on an apron that I'm really not happy with. I don't know why except maybe it's not my style? Or...maybe because I made it directly from a pattern. Yep, I think that's it...it's not very creative...it's not mine. I'll try to finish it tomorrow (bad habit of mine...not finishing something if I don't like it!) and show it to Bonnie - she gives really good constructive criticism!

Well...it's 1:30 am and I'm still not sleepy, think I'll make hot chocolate and find something else...anything else to watch on TV!

(I apologize to anyone who's having to read this! It's pretty boring, but what can you expect at 1:39 in the morning...did I mention I can't go to sleep?) Hmmmm...why does this say I posted at 11:14? Different time zone...did I start at 1:14?...I'll have to check that out. Oh, I'm rambling on and on, so...

Whoopee!!

The garage sale is over! Although I didn't make the half million dollars I need to buy an embroidery machine...at least my house is less cluttered.

But seriously, has anyone seen the prices of a decent embroidery machine? I'm really wanting one, but I'd have to sell my first born just for a down-payment. Even on E-bay they're exorbitant and have too many bidders to get a good price, plus I'm always afraid I'll get ripped off.

Oh well...this is going to be short because (drum roll)...I'm still cleaning - tonight I'm cleaning the carpet in my living and dining rooms as well as rearranging the furniture. I'm doing all this so I won't feel so guilty about playing! But, I'm almost through with the big stuff like cleaning out closets, carpet cleaning, etc. Actually...I did take time to make a new apron. And as soon as I can get a model (Alabama girl was too busy for pictures this weekend), I'll post. Also, I've got a quilt ready as soon as Bonnie gets the frame up for the quilting machine (the reason for the garage sale...we had to make room for it!)

Somebody is not happy with all this cleaning!
