Thirty years...and counting!

Thirty years ago, I married the man of my dreams.  He's a wonderful husband and a great dad.  And anyone who can put up with me for that long is someone special!  Sometimes I forget to tell him that.   I know!...thirty years is a loooong time (I was a child bride!  Bwahaha!).   Hope we have another  30!

Twenty years ago...

we brought home a baby girl.

We had no idea how much joy and happiness you would bring to us.    You're beautiful inside and out!  We're so proud of you and all you have accomplished!

Bad, bad computer!

I won't be able to update for a while. *sniffle* My computer is dead. I'm at Bonnie's right now and checking my comments, but can't stay here all day and read blogs (although that's what I'd do if I had my choice!)

So...if Auburn Guy can't fix mine...I'll have to wait until David gets home and buys me a new one!

If I can't get back on before Thanksgiving, hope you all have a good one!

I Go Out Walking....

The title won't mean much unless you can hear the song...and even that doesn't make a lot of sense, but I wanted something to go with this post, and I like Patsy Cline.

Well yeah...I went to the doctor on a totally unrelated matter to what I'm writing about.  She heard me coughing, asked how long that had been going on, and decided to do a chest x-ray.  So, I've been sick for what?  3 weeks?  Anyway, she looked at the x-ray and decided I have walking pneumonia.  Not such a big deal, but she put me on steroids.  Folks...steroids make me mean!  Hard to get along with!  Depressed.  And I eat!  I hate being on them.

In other news...'Bama Girl is a little upset with me.  After the doctor visit, I had to call and let her know that I can't be at the game today.  The weather is wet....and cold...and the wind is blowing....and...it's a night game.  I tried to explain that it wasn't ideal conditions for me to be in.  I don't think she understood.  But, I'll try and make it up to her in a week and a half...at Thanksgiving.  I really wanted to go, though.  I had a ticket and everything!  Even a tailgate party to go to....I'm sad.

Goodness, this is really depressing!  So.....TA DA!

GOOD NEWS!  I found a TURDUCKEN!  YAY!  I found one in Huntsville, but they wanted $119 for it.  Can you imagine?  Is it stuffed with gold?  And, they don't even do it there!  They have it shipped in!  Well, I can do that myself.  So I did!  I ordered one off the internet.  But, I didn't order a whole one.  I ordered a turducken roll.  It's a turkey breast (deboned) stuffed with duck slices, then chicken, then finally with cajun sausage.  We've never had one and I really didn't want to spend nearly a hundred dollars for something we may or may not like.  If we do like it, I'll buy a whole one next year.  (Auburn Guy may be unhappy about this...but, join the crowd...what else is new!)  I'm also going to fry a whole turkey for us.  Bonnie and her husband are doing this, so I'm splitting the cost of the peanut oil with them.

And...YAY, Alabama!  Yes!  Just two more games!  Mississippi State and then...AUBURN!  Then?  Well, if we win.....?  I don't want to jinx it!  But I want to win the next one too!

            Roll Tide!

I live with crazy people!

Turkeys, ducks, and chickens.  What do these have in common?  Poultry might be your answer.  And you would be right.  But in my world, that's wrong!

TURDUCKEN!  Say it with me...tur-duck-en.  That's right!  Turducken!  Okay...I just like saying it.  And if you say it with a southern accent it's even funnier!  I'm sure most of you know what this is (although, a few of my friends didn't...they thought I was nuts!).  If you don't, it's turkey, stuffed with a duck, stuffed with a chicken, stuffed with...well, stuffing!  A cajun thing.  And the reason for this little lesson?...

Auburn Guy called tonight.  Our conversation went a little like this:

"Mom?"

"Yeah?"  No...it's Hank's House of Pain...of course it's me.

"Do you remember what you promised last Thanksgiving?"  Are you kidding me...I don't remember last week, much less last year!

"No, sweetie...what?"  I say this with much fear in my heart.

"A turducken!"

"B- b- b- but, why didn't you say something earlier, I don't know where I can get one!"  Googling as fast as my fat little fingers will go.

"You promised!"  Did I?  Why did I?  Was I on crack or what?

"Okay, son...let's just say I did.  But from what I see on the internet, if I order one, it cost 79 to 95 dollars - that's american dollars...and let me tell ya kid, I'm not paying that!"  Especially when I could get a whole turkey dinner at Publix for $45.00.  Not that I would...I'm just saying!

"Mo-o-m."

"Okay, okay...let me see what I can do!"  Now...this kid never asks for anything...not like 'Bama Girl who calls my cell phone while I'm shopping and asks what did I buy her!

Sam's club has them on their website, but when I called, my conversation went a like this:

"Sam's, may I help you?"

"Yes...I'd like to find out if you have an item in stock."

"And the item?"

"A turducken."

"Ma'am?"

"Tur-duck-en....it's poultry...in the gourmet section."

"Oooookay....hold on." I'm pretty sure she thought I was a crank caller!

Waiting...waiting...waiting....

"Can I help you?"

"Yes...do you have a turducken?"

"What's that?"  Full explanation from me....turkey, stuffed with duck, stuffed with chicken!

"I'll check...(waiting...waiting)...no ma'am, but it might be on the truck tonight."

"Are you sure you don't have one?"

"No ma'am, but if you would like to call back, I'm sure someone else could help you...I'm the cleaning man, everyone else is on break."  Bwahahaha...I lost it!  So did the cleaning guy!

So, tomorrow I'm off on a mission to Huntsville to hunt down a turducken.  First I'll try Sam's and then maybe Tim's Cajun Kitchen...if anyone else has any idea where I might find one, please let me know.  This is gonna be fun or at least funny!  (When I told 'Bama Girl her response was, "Why don't you stuff one yourself?"  I live with crazy people.

Didja really think I wasn't going to talk about it?

Well...Didja?

     Alabama  vs   LSU

You knew I would!

'Bama Girl is in Baton Rouge.  I talked to her this afternoon.  I warned her!

I told her to stay in a group.  Do not leave the hotel.  Do not go anywhere by yourself...not even the bathroom!  Do not wear an Alabama t-shirt.  Do not look an LSU fan in the eye!

"Mommmm...they already told us all that!"

Did they tell you about flying beer bottles and high heels?  "YES!"

Okay!

Listen...I'm originally from Louisiana...I know of what I speak!  LSU  fans are hostile!  They hate Saban!  They hate Alabama!  We're #1!

On the news, it was reported that security was being beefed up for the buses carrying the team and band because of rumors that fans were going to try and turn them over.  Didja  hear that, 'Bama Girl?  Huh?  Didja?

(Will they?  Probably not.  Can they?  No.)

So...you know where I'll be tomorrow at 2:30!  Sittin' on the couch with David watching the game(he's going to be home this weekend! Yay!)!

I know I have friends and family from Louisiana who read my blog...sorry if I hurt anyone's feeling, but you know it's true!

C'est la vie, ma cher!

Chan...Chan...Change

I was going to write a "deeper" post today.  But I don't argue politic, religion, or anything else on my blog.  That's my choice.  I won't even argue football! (Why argue about the best? ha ha).  So, what I want to say is:  Congratulations, Mr. Obama.  And even though you were not my choice,  I am not so old that I can't appreciate change...I like change...especially if  it's for the good.  It shakes us up, makes us think...keeps us young.

Now, for more change!  Yay...no more political ads!  On to the Thanksgiving and Christmas ads!

And more change:  I'm thinking about having a "House Divided" Christmas tree!

I've had traditionally decorated trees, a red, white and blue tree (after 911), and a black and orange tree (Austin High School).  So, why not!  I have plenty of orange and red ornaments.  I'll just add AU and UA ornaments, blue ornaments (which I don't have!) and Valarie has some cute ornaments she's 'crafting' over on her blog.  I could make some of those...and not just the Auburn ones!  I also saw UA and AU stockings at Cracker Barrel yesterday!  So cute!  I could make some of those!

But, before I do the tree, I need to talk to my children.  Especially Auburn Guy.  He's not happy.  I'm not sure he'll be staying at Auburn.  I'm not sure if he's just burnt out from school, if he's just homesick, or what the problem is.  He'll be home for a week during Thanksgiving.  So will David.  Maybe we can work things out then.

'Bama Girl will be home on Tuesday before Thanksgiving and then has to leave Friday  for Saturday's game.  Roll Tide!  We'll be celebrating her birthday (Nov. 29th)...she'll be twenty!  Since she'll be in Tuscaloosa, we'll celebrate early.  And because  our anniversary is the same date...we'll be doing that, too!  (Yes...I was giving birth on our 10th!)

It will be nice to have everyone home (at the same time!).  I'll be able to feed them, spoil them....and then they'll leave...but not for long.  Christmas is creeping up on us!

My Little Mermaid!

'Bama Girl came home before Halloween and announced she needed a costume.  Now, I thought those days had come and gone!  I've made costumes for school plays, Halloween, and anything she ever needed one for.  So...I guess she thinks I'll always be here to make one and...I guess I will!

She and her friends decided to be Disney 'Princesses'.  Both of her other friends are also in the band at Alabama and play clarinet.  One of them was Belle from Beauty and the Beast.  The other was Snow White.  Of course, with the red hair and all....'Bama Girl was Ariel!  Most of the band dressed up for rehearsal on Halloween.  I really would have like to have seen 'Bama Girl dressed up and carrying her tuba!

But...here's the picture she sent:

                                         n697016049_1447235_3677

And before you ask...yes, she has a shirt on!  She's definitely not a hoochie!  She's very modest, therefore always covered up!  But, I was stumped on how to do Ariel otherwise!
