No, not the show...the real thing!  'Bama Girl's roommate called Tuesday at about 7pm and said that she and the BF were taking her to the Emergency Room.  'Bama Girl had been sick for about a week and had passed out several times.  (What I found out later was...14 times!)  So...David and I hit the road to Tuscaloosa about 7:30 and got there by 10.  They said she had a virus.  A virus?  Whatever!

We took her to a motel and spent a very restless night, then woke up and brought her home.  I took her to our doctor Thursday morning and he wanted to admit her, give her an IV and run tests.  Okay...but did she want to go?  NO.  And can I make a twenty year old go?  NO.  So, I brought her back home, filled her up with liquids (she was extremely dehydrated!).  She ate...a little.

This morning, we took her back to Tuscaloosa.  If we hadn't, I think she might have walked there.  She had a test!  She couldn't miss it!  She had already missed almost a week of classes!  Am I a bad mother?   I spent 10 hours on the road driving her back and forth.  3 sleepless nights.  And unknown amounts of money for doctor's bills.  Aaaand....I'll do it again....if I have to!  (Can you tell I have lots of guilt for leaving her up there?  Even though I know I've done everything I can?)

It doesn't matter how old you are, you'll still be my baby!

Anyway...this is my explanation for not blogging for a while.  (Sorry...I said no more baby pictures...I lied!)

Awww, it's Monday

I got an e-mail today from Jennifer.  She was telling about Kimmie having a blog-along called "Aww it's Monday!"  You're suppose to post something HAPPY!  Something that makes you SMILE!  Something that makes you go "Awww"!  So...

I love you, I love you not, I love you...

Can I get an "Awwww"?

(Sorry,  Auburn Guy!)

I said I would share what I was making with the pink fabrics.  But first...a little story to go along with it.

I have friends (yes, I do have real live friends!):   The Mr.  was  my son's and daughter's teacher in high school.  We adore him.  The Mrs. is a very, very sweet person.  She is also a teacher (college).  We adore her.

This couple has wanted a baby for as long as I've known them.  They've been on waiting lists for adoption.  They have been on the list for Chinese adoption for four (4!) years.   Finally...just before Christmas they received their letter that confirmed they would be getting a daughter.  YAY!  They are great people and I wish I could express just how wonderful they will be as parents.  She is a very lucky girl to have them as her parents!  Her name will be Katie!

Anyway...I made her a quilt!  And used my embroidery machine!  It's so, so cute! (If I say so myself!)  Here...judge for yourself:

Not great pictures (Photography is not my forte').  But...cute, huh?  If you click on the pictures, you can see my quilting....Hearts!  I hope they like it as much as I do (Gosh...I'm not patting myself on the back, it's just that I haven't sewn for a "little girl" in a while! and I'm loving my embroidery machine!) that I've bragged on myself and fished for compliments (NOT!)...

Hug your children...tightly.

(I was holding this post because I wasn't sure I wanted to share it, but I read Jen's blog today and decided it was time.)

In 2004, my son's best friend was killed in a car accident on the way to school.  He had just gotten his license and car.  Jim was a genius...very smart...could have been anything he wanted.  He was in the band with my son...everybody knew him.  Everyone liked him.

2 years later, one of my daughter's best friends was killed in a car wreck also.  This was a stupid accident...the kids were riding down "thrill hill" and lost control.  Patrick was also in the band with my children...a tuba player.  A great kid!  Very outgoing.  He stayed over at my house a lot.  He had just survived cancer and a year of chemo.

If you've never held your child's hand in a hospital waiting room as the decision to stop life support was being thankful.  My heart broke.

If you've never been in a room with 200 grieving kids... be thankful.  I held children, tried to comfort them and tried to answer their questions of "why".  My heart broke.

If you never been asked by a parent to call six children to be pall bearers for their thankful.  Each boy I called said..."Ms. Debbie, I'd be honored."  I heard this each time I made the call.  My heart broke.

My children have given me gray hairs, have made me cry, made my heart bleed for them, and have put me on my knees to pray for them.

I forget sometimes just how lucky I am to have them with me.  I am thankful.

So, today...hug your children and tell them how much you love them.

In the Pink!

Isn't this just the best fabric ever?  It's Ava Rose!  And I love it!

I was cutting out something and was just throwing it into a*smile*...I had to take a makes me happy!  (I'll let you see what I'm making and have a story about it for you another day!)

Just wanted to share!

Look what I can do....

Ta Da....look what I got...

                                       Finally!  My new embroidery machine!

My Christmas and birthday present is finally here!  Yay!  I'm so much happier today!  I know I've got a lot of practicing to do before I get the hang of it, but I just wanted to share!

Also, things are a little better with  "Auburn Guy's" problems.  He and the director of the program talked and decided that he would take a leave of absence for the rest of the year and give himself time to make the decision of whether this is the right program for him.  At least he's not burning his bridges and hopefully will go back in the fall.  Thanks for all your concern, thoughts and prayers.  It's hard being a mom!  Little kids, little problems....big kids, big problems!  And yes, I want to fix it...kiss the boo-boo's and put a band-aid on them...but I have to let him handle this himself.  It's life!

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly!

The Good:  It's a new year.  new beginnings.  New quilts, new projects.  New blog friends.

The Bad:  'Bama Girl and Auburn Guy have left.  The Sugar Bowl was a bust!   I'm a year older (not so much wiser).

The Ugly:  My son may not be "Auburn Guy" much longer.

                       1.  He hates the PhD program.

                       2.  He hates Auburn.

                       3.  He's not sure if psychology is the field he wants to continue in.

                       4.  He's homesick.

There are a lot of other issues, but this is not the forum to air them in.  Just keep him in your thoughts and maybe he will make the right decision.  I'm not sure what the "right " decision is...but he has to handle this himself.  That's my brain talking...not my heart.  (Because my heart is breaking for him).   :(

I hate being such a "Debbie Downer", but I hope you understand.   I'm sure things will get better...tomorrow's another day!  But today...I think I'm going to have to get the color bottle out, because I've turned gray overnight!
