One of these things is not like the other...

Or maybe they are!  Because they're both something I enjoy!

The first is a quilt.

Not too long ago, my mother gave me some quilt blocks that my grandmother had made about 50 years ago.  She wanted me to make my sister a quilt from them.  They were Sunbonnet Sue blocks made from feed sacks and whatever other scraps "Mammaw" may have had.  The block were not square at all!  So...I had to add muslin to all sides and then use my rotary cutter to even them all up.  Then...of course I couldn't match any of the fabric, so I had to come up with something to put around each square.  Nothing looked "right".  Light bulb moment!  Ticking...red ticking.  It looked antique...it worked!

It turned out much better than I thought it would when I first saw the blocks!  And...my mother and sister were happy with it.

The other thing that is not like the first is my Mother's Day present!

                                                             A TRACTOR!

A John Deere tractor to be exact!  Now,  I can bush hog!  Yay!!  And I can haul things!  Yay!!

" Well she ain't into cars or pick up trucks,
But if it runs like a Deere, man her eyes light up."

"She (I) thinks my tractor's sexy!"

It takes so little to make me happy!  LOL!

Talk to ya'll later!

  2. What a sexy tractor! :) You must be in hog heaven. I love the quilt, too. I remember playing underneath the quilt my MawMaw was making on the big square posts. It was my tent. Such good memories. Thanks for that. Have a great day!

  5. Lordy, girl!!! We just bought a tractor with a bush hog ourselves. Ours is not that wonderful John Dere but we only have 3 acres to keep up so it works fine. My brother was just not able to keep up the old place so we took on the pature. Absolutely love the pic of you on that thing. The first day we used ours, got a hole in the tire. A great big old thorn! Gotta love it. And man!- do I love that quilt! Great job. You are a true quilt artist. Gonna post some pictures of our new tractor soon. Till later!
