How does your garden grow?

Mine is going crazy!

                               DSC01827

With all the rain, I was afraid everything was going to float away.  But hopefully we're going to have at least 3 days of sunshine this week-end.

I'm going to have more squash than I'll know what to do with.

                                     DSC01830

On 4 plants, I probably have 30 tomatoes...

and I love, love bacon and tomato sandwiches.

Of course I'll have to eat turkey bacon, 35 calorie bread or buns, and olive oil mayo!  Yum, Yum!   I refuse to let weight watchers get the best of me!

I need to go eat breakfast now (yogurt - 2 pts!).  I'm really missing Waffle House!  And Hardee's!  But, because of them...I'm where I'm at now!  Oh, the bitterness, the pain, the whining!

Summertime blues...

and reds and yellows and pinks!

                                                            I love hydrangeas

Just not enough time in the day lately to write.  David came home from Jessup, Georgia and was home a week.  He left Monday to go to Rockingham, NC for a month or so.

Dahlias  (Finally got rid of the slugs!)

I helped William move into his apartment.  He's been there about two weeks and is finally getting settled in.  Now he's got to decide whether to find a job or go back to school...hopefully both!

                                                  DSC01818

My "Happy" Dahlias...they make me happy!

'Bama Girl is home for the summer.  She's taking core classes (like American Lit, the second part of Alabama History and Biology) at the community college .  She takes the classes for her major at Alabama during the year...the community college is much less expensive for the classes she needs that are not related to her degree.  She also got a job!  Yea!  We were afraid she wouldn't be able to find one for the summer because so many other people are looking for them.  But...on her first application and interview she got one.  Now...it's not the greatest, but she's making more bucks than she was at Books-a-Million last year.  Now for the kicker...she's working at the place I am least fond of going into!  Wal-mart.  Need I say more?

So...Weight Watchers.  I've lost a total of 9 lbs. in 4 weeks.  Not great...but at least I'm losing and not gaining.   I've finally started walking/running again...more walking than running!  That should help kick in the weight loss.  And do I have a tip for anyone on WW!  Have you tried Hostess 100 calorie cupcakes?  Mmmmmm!  1 point per package!  The chocolate ones are a little dry, but the strawberry and cinnamon coffee cake ones are to die for!  Just sayin'!

                                                                       My swing!

By the way, I threw in  pictures of my front yard...I spent a lot of time digging out monkey grass and re-doing all my flower beds.  So...I'm glad all that work is done and I can finally enjoy all the flowers...if it would quit raining!  Scratch that!  I'd rather it rain than be dry and hot!

Chester is the man!

Okay, you all know I'm on WW, right?  Okay.  Well, it's hard!

I'm not a sweet eater, actually I'm not a snack eater...I like food.  Real food.  Mashed potatoes and gravy.  Chicken and dumplings.  Ribs.  Lasagne.  Ravioli.  Anything with cheese, cheese, cheese.

But...I've found something to get me through.  It's a snack and it's cheesy!  And yummy!

3 cups = 4 points of cheesy goodness!

                                            I love Chester!

Ketchup!

                                                        UPDATE!

I'm gonna talk about me!  I had my second weigh-in today with Weight Watchers.  I know I didn't blog about the first, but here are the statistics:

Week One:    5.4 lbs

Week Two:    1.8 lbs

Total for two week:  7.2 lbs.  (A sack of potatoes and 8 sticks of butter!)

Not bad for two weeks.  The bad news is my buddy quit on me.  It just wasn't her thing, I guess.  I'm not wild on going to the meetings either, but sometimes I need the motivation.  Today, I didn't stay, but only weighed in.

So...if anybody has recently started Weight Watchers and needs a buddy, let me know!  I've got some killer recipes!

Second update:  No more slugs!  I finally had to buy bait.  The beer and all the other home remedies just didn't cut it.  I had way too many to drown in beer and I hated picking them off and pouring salt on them!

                                      DSC01806

One of the daliah's I've been trying to save from the slugs!

This one is my favorite....it's so HAPPY!

Well...hope everyone is doing okay, I'll try to "ketchup" on all the reading I'm missing...'cause I'm sure your lives are a lot more interesting than mine!

Help needed: Slug Slayer

                                                              Sluggo

                                                           HELP!

                                                           Cape optional!

Seriously!  I've got slug problem...they're eating everything in sight...the dahlias, hydrandgia, my grapefruit tree...everything!

I've tried *squeal* picking them off and using beer in little cups to trap them and I only got a few that way.  Must be Baptist slugs!   I don't know what will keep them away.  It's rained for the last week and according to the weather forecast we're only going to have 2 rain-free days next week.  I know the wet ground is the cause, but what do I do about my plants until it gets dry?  Are there any insecticides that you know will work?  I'm going to Lowe's tomorrow morning to find one or a big bomb...which ever I run across first!

F**

Such a dirty word.   Fat, okay?  There, I said it!  I'm overweight.  I know it, you know it, heck...everybody knows it!

That's what I'm struggling with and I can't believe I'm blogging about it.  But, sometimes I use my blog as a "virtual psychologist" who doesn't judge, but gives me advice and support.  Thanks, Doc!

Moving on to the heart of the matter.  I've just re-joined Weight Watchers.  I did it because it keeps me honest and I like  competition.  Not necessarily with the other people, but more with myself.  If I don't lo0se weight or only loose a pound... the next week, I'll loose 2.  And because I'm basically an organized person, I like the points, making daily menus and shopping lists (yeah...I'm a bit strange!)  What I don't like is the exercise...ugh!

So, although I'll be blogging about my progress, recipes, and products that I use, I'll try not to make it a diet blog!  I'm dieting...not dead.  I do have a life!  Really!

I know you're all sitting on pins and needles to know what I weigh.  Ha!  Mama didn't raise a fool!  There's no way I'll ever publish that!  But let's just say I'd fit right in with the Biggest Loser contestants on the first night!

My best tips?  Weigh and measure everything...you really get a perspective on what you're eating!

My biggest struggle?  Using all the points.  I always have 2-5 left over at the end of the day.

The best convenience food?  Smart Ones 3-Cheese Ziti with one and a half  oz. grilled and chopped chicken mixed in!   7.5 points!

*I don't usually like frozen dinners, but this is really good!  The ziti has a "real" taste!

                                                Just a little eye-opener...

If you lose 1 lb., that is equal to 4 sticks of butter being removed from your body.

If you lose 5 lbs., that is equivalent to losing a sack of potatoes off your body.

If you lose 10 lbs., that is equivalent to losing 8 medium cantaloupes off your body.

If you lose 25 lbs., that is equivalent to losing 3 gallons of milk off your body.  (I need to loose about 9 gallons of milk!)
