Fun Times!

My weekend in Tuscaloosa with Kim, 'Bama Girl and Fiance' was great!  We went to the rugby game, ate at Mellow Mushroom....yummmm PIZZA!

Here's a few pictures from the game...ignore the 'fat' woman, I couldn't crop her out!  (She's going on a diet tomorrow!  No more pizza...no more Milo's!)

That's my baby in the middle of that mess!

My Baby!  I love you, 'Bama Girl!

The rugby game was fun...even though I had not a clue of what was going on!

We also went shopping.  Charming Charlie's!  Purses, jewelry, scarves, belts, sandles, clothes...bling, bling, bling!  And this is what I bought:

It looks black, but is really dark brown.  Lots of crystals!

And one of my "new" favorite people...Megan, my son's girlfriend gave me presents!  For Valentines Day!

                                     DSC02358

Handmade coasters...Cute, cute, cute!  I love them!

And....

                                        DSC02360

A houndstooth scarf with my initials monogrammed on it!

She's such a doll!  I'm really lovin' her!

Also, my mom is in the hospital...she broke her leg last year...got an infection this year and they've had to do surgery and remove the hardware.  So...

Mother...I love you and hope you get better soon!  xoxo

University of Alabama Rugby

I'm off to Tuscaloosa to see 'Bama Girl play Saturday.  It's the first home game and since I've not seen her play yet, I thought I'd take a trip down there.  My friend Kim and I are going Friday.  We're planning on stopping at Milo's...get a Milo burger and a fried lemon pie.  If you've never eaten at Milo's...well, you either love it or hate it, although I don't know anyone personally that hates it!  (It's a local thing and I can't pass through Birmingham without stopping!) Then, we'll do a little shopping, stroll the campus, take the kids out to eat and try to stay out of trouble.

Be back soon!

Disclaimer: May cause health nuts to cry like a little girl.

This disclaimer is meant for my brother.  While in Louisiana, one statement he made stuck with me.  "Read the label...if a third grader can't pronounce the ingredients, you shouldn't eat it".

Yeah...well...really?  Who are you?  The food police?

So in that spirit, I took a look into my pantry.

1.  Easy Cheese

                                     DSC02337

Ummm...cheese in a can.  Does life get any better?  This is really good for band trips or any travel with young children or teenagers.  Convenient and no refrigeration.  Good for appetizers...dogs love it too!  Contains whey, cheddar cheese, canola oil, milk and whey protein concentrate as well as less than 2% of stuff I can't pronounce.  So...that must mean 98% good stuff!

2.  Wheat Thins Toasted Chips

                                         DSC02338

Just discovered these...Golden Gate Garlic and Rosemary...an epicurean delight with cheese in a can!  The package reads:  "50% less fat than the leading regular fried potato chip." (Oh yeah!)  and  "290 mg ALA Omega-3 fatty acids per serving from soybean oil."   Must be good for you!   (Also good in the Garden Valley Veggie flavor...hey!  Veggies!)

3.  Ovaltine

                                             DSC02339

What more can I say?  It's where I get my vitamins and minerals! And...if I add it to milk instead of eating it out of a spoon, I also get my calcium and Vitamin D...yay!

4.  Nutella

                                              DSC02340

Nuts and chocolate.  Researchers have linked both to health benefits.  "If you can restrain yourself from overeating them, nuts can definitely be a part of a healthy diet."  The only problem I'm having with this is:  "How many nuts are in a spoonful?"

5.  Ding Dongs

                                           DSC02343

Maybe not so good for you, but does contain chocolate, eggs, milk, wheat, and vitamins.  (Ignore the big rip in the package...I was needing my vitamins while loading groceries into the car!)

My So-Called Life...

is very uninteresting lately.  Not that I haven't done anything lately...I've just been uninteresting.  I think it's the weather.  I'm sick of it.  Tired of snow.  Sick and tired of talking about it!

I went to Louisiana last weekend.  It was my mother and aunt's birthday.  Sorry...no pictures that wouldn't embarrass anyone!  I really had a good time. Good food!   But...it's a looooong drive!  I'm not going to do it again by myself anytime soon!  While I was there the Saints won the Super Bowl.  I heard a lot of "Who dat?" and "Geaux Saints"....gotta love Louisiana...there's no place like it!

Speaking of Louisiana...'Bama Girl is in New Orleans this weekend playing rugby.  She called and said she is on crutches...not a broken leg, but she really didn't elaborate, so I'm guessing she got hurt playing.  Hopefully I'll find out later!

David was home from Ohio this weekend.  We didn't do much...I cooked, he ate!  We bought 2 garbage cans!  Wow!

William's moved into his mobile home now...thank goodness all that is done...'cause I'm done!  I'm hoping I don't have to do anything else with it this week.

He and his girlfriend came over and ate today...and brought a chocolate cake they made....yummmmy good!

                                                                       So Cute!

So...now that I've put all of you to sleep, I think I'm going to take a nap!

Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy!

Today was gorgeous!  Sunshine!  Happiness!

A good day to show that I'm not all work and no play.

Here's a couple of quilts I've been working on and finished today.

The first is an orange one I've named My Bonnie quilt.  Why?  Because my friend Bonnie gave me a set of retro sheets she found while thrifting.  Being the wonderful, generous friend she is...(**I begged and pleaded and pitched a hissy fit for them!**)  and because she knows how much I like orange, she gave them to me.

But I didn't get the best  of pictures, because even though it's sunny...it's windy!

        DSC02313

A little help from my friends.  Camera hogs!

For the next, I used my fabric that I bought for Christmas!   So windy!

       DSC02315

                     One more picture...'cause I can...I like it...

                                          and that's how I roll!

Thanks for looking!

Trailer trash!

I haven't been blogging much because I've been trying to get my son, William settled.  He started school again, classes began, he moved in with me!  Then, we started looking for him a place to live.  David and I decided we'd buy  a mobile home and move it onto our land because we already had 2 trailer sites.

I looked at new ones and used ones.  And let me tell you...I looked at some trashy trailers!  If I wouldn't live in it, I sure wouldn't let him!

So...long story short, David came home from Florida (he's now been transferred to Ohio) and bought the first one I looked at!  Of course!  And I spent 3 weeks looking!

And finally, today, they're moving it in.

                                 DSC02307

It's really nice...it new!  It's 2 bedrooms and has everything he needs...a fridge, a stove, a dishwasher and washer and dryer.

Now all we have to do is wait for the electrician, the plumber, and the skirter!

I also had to take Chance to the vet today...he has a really bad ear infection.

                                    DSC02308

                                                             Bless his heart!

So...now you know what I've been up to and why I've been MIA for a while!
